Privacy notice
This notice explains what we do with the personal information you give us through this website. At present that is limited to one thing: the email address you submit when registering your interest in World Whisky Week.
Who we are
World Whisky Week is an event based in Edinburgh, UK. We are the data controller for the information described here. For any question about this notice, or to exercise any of the rights below, email hello@worldwhiskyweek.com.
What we collect
When you register your interest we collect your email address, together with the date and time of your submission. We do not ask for your name, address, age or any other detail, and this site sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
Why we collect it, and our lawful basis
We use your address for one purpose: to send you news about World Whisky Week, including programme announcements, ticket releases and partner information. Our lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. You may withdraw that consent at any time.
How long we keep it
World Whisky Week runs each year, so we keep your address until you ask us to stop. If you unsubscribe we remove your address from our mailing list and retain only the minimum record needed to ensure we do not contact you again.
Who else sees it
Your address is stored in Google Sheets, provided by Google, which acts as our processor. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with sponsors, partners or any other third party for their own marketing. Google may process data outside the UK; where it does, appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum apply.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have your information deleted;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, our use of it;
- withdraw your consent at any time;
- receive your information in a portable format.
To exercise any of these, email hello@worldwhiskyweek.com. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or by calling 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
As the World Whisky Week programme develops we will collect more information than we do today, for example when tickets go on sale. We will update this notice before that happens, and the date at the top will change.
